ANALYSIS:
San Diego State has been extremely effective at times this year and should be regarded as a serious opponent. They have a record of 21-10 and are ranked 59th overall (out of 364) in the latest Haslametrics ratings. Of the 11 schools in the MWC (average ranking 124.7), they're currently ranked as our #5 team in the conference.

San Diego State is one of the most menacing defensive teams in the country. Ranked 21st in defensive efficiency, they will allow fewer than 96 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. San Diego State will do a number on many an opponent's shooting percentage, as the team ranks in the top-25 in three of our four major defensive field goal categories. They're most likely to shut you down inside the three-point arc, considering the team limits AO to converting just 30.0% of their mid-range jumpers (ninth in the nation), 51.1% of their near-proximity chances (12th), and 37.6% of their total shots from the field (eighth). San Diego State also does a pretty solid job providing themselves chances to score quickly off of steals. They're ranked 31st in potential points off of breakaway steals vs. AO with a rating of 15.86.

San Diego State is also a fairly decent team on the offensive end of the court. The team ranks 104th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 111 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. San Diego State allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 9.25, which ranks #23 in the country. San Diego State also does a pretty solid job of scoring points off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team successfully converts 7.3% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 64th nationally). If San Diego State does have a weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's poor shooting at the line. The squad makes just 66.5% of their free throw attempts, which ranks 26th-worst in Division I.

San Diego State has definitely not been as efficient as of late compared to earlier in the season and, consequently, the team is nationally ranked 346th in positive momentum.
