Of the 10 schools in the Big 12 (average ranking 59.9), they're currently ranked as our #4 team in the conference. Racking up about 114 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO, the team is nationally rated 14th in efficiency on that end of the floor. West Virginia does a super job in their efforts to get to the free throw line. With a free throw attempt rate of 32.55 vs. AO, they are ranked third in the nation at getting to the charity stripe, where the team shoots a rather mediocre 71.9%. West Virginia is also one of the most accurate teams when shooting from long-distance. They're ranked eighth nationally in three-point field goal percentage and make about 39.3% of their attempts from there vs. AO. Though they convert many of their threes, the team doesn't really shoot a ton of them. Only 33.5% of their total attempts vs. AO are from long-distance. West Virginia lastly appears to be one of the top-notch offensive rebounding teams you will find this year. Against AO, the squad has a rating of 17.20 in potential points scored off of second chances (ranked 20th in the NCAA).
West Virginia plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 57th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 94 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. West Virginia thrives on scoring fast and easy points off of steals. They're ranked 13th in potential points off of breakaway steals vs. AO with a rating of 15.37. West Virginia also does a pretty solid job avoiding careless fouls and minimizing opponents' opportunities from the free throw line. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 20.91 vs. AO, they are currently rated 43rd in the country in that category.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
