ANALYSIS: Green Bay is not one of the better teams in Division I this year. Their record this season is 4-28, and the club is ranked 330th overall (out of 364) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. Of the 11 schools in the Horizon League (average ranking 214.6), they're currently ranked as our #10 team in the conference.
Green Bay does not provide much of a challenge on defense. They are ranked at #332 in efficiency on that end of the court and give up about 117 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Green Bay is one of the very worst teams in the game when it comes to preventing opponents from scoring off of offensive rebounds. The team allows AO to convert 7.9% of all second-chance opportunities (346th nationally), and with a rating of 17.49, they're 344th in potential points surrendered off of the offensive boards as well. Green Bay also allows opposing teams far too many easy chances from the floor, ranking in the bottom-50 in three of the four main defensive field goal shooting categories. AO will convert a healthy 37.4% of their three-pointers (332nd in the nation), 62.9% of their near-proximity attempts (319th), and 47.2% of their total shots from the field (319th).
Green Bay doesn't rate much better on offense than they do on defense. Scoring roughly 101 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #282 in the nation in offensive efficiency. Green Bay happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked third from the bottom in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 81.22 vs. AO. Green Bay also poses no threat whatsoever to grab rebounds off their own misses. Against AO, the ball-club has a rating of 9.16 in potential points scored off of second chances (sixth from the bottom nationally), and they convert just 3.4% of their second-chance opportunities (ranked tenth from the bottom) as well. If Green Bay does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's outstanding shooting at the charity stripe. The squad makes 79.0% of their free throw attempts, which ranks #13 in Division I.
On the road, Green Bay performs somewhat better than their norm, as the squad is nationally ranked 39th in our away-from-home metric.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Green Bay does worse vs. clubs that tend to get off more shots. When playing squads that have an offensive field goal attempt rate vs. AO greater than 88.08, Green Bay performs above average 29% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 86% of the time.
Green Bay performs worse against squads that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass. When facing teams that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 6.72%, Green Bay is more efficient than normal 29% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 86% of the time.
When playing teams that allow more chances at the line, Green Bay usually performs better than average. Green Bay is more efficient than normal 80% of the time when facing clubs that have a defensive free throw attempt rate vs. AO greater than 27.51. In all other contests, Green Bay performs better than average 31% of the time.
