ANALYSIS: While this site doesn't quite consider them to be in the national title hunt, Texas Tech has the potential to be a formidable opponent for many in Division I. Carrying a record of 19-13, they are currently rated #51 overall (out of 351) in All-Play Percentage this season. They are also ranked by this site as the #7 team (out of 10) in the Big 12 (average ranking 45.0). With a strength-of-schedule rating of 0.740 (which ranks 11th nationally), Texas Tech is one of the more battle-tested teams in the college game.
Texas Tech succeeds primarily through their offense. They are ranked 34th in offensive efficiency and score in excess of 111 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Texas Tech does a really good job to acquire opportunities from the free throw line. With a free throw attempt rate of 32.60 vs. AO, they are ranked 37th in the nation at getting to the charity stripe. In addition, the team is in the top-50 in free throw shooting, converting a solid 73.9% of their attempts. Texas Tech is also one of the better teams in the country when it comes to converting scoring chances off of offensive rebounds.
