ANALYSIS:
Despite what their win percentage might indicate, TCU is a good team that can cause more than enough trouble for most opponents. Ranked 81st overall (out of 353) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 16-16. Of the 10 schools in the Big 12 (average ranking 45.9), they're currently ranked as our #8 team in the conference.

The primary strength for TCU is defense. The team is ranked 69th in efficiency, allowing fewer than 94 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. TCU has been pretty good preventing teams from hitting shots in the paint. They are ranked 55th in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on only 55.1% of their attempts from close-up.

TCU plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 99th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 103 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. TCU is one of the most accurate teams when shooting from long-distance. They're ranked 21st nationally in three-point field goal percentage and make about 37.3% of their attempts from there vs. AO. The team will try to shoot a fair amount of threes, too. Roughly 41.2% of their field goal attempts vs. AO are from long, giving the team a top-100 ranking in that category. TCU also does a pretty decent job in most cases to maximize opportunities to score on offense. The team is ranked 56th in the NCAA in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 84.51 vs. AO. And when they do shoot, they make a fair portion of their shots. Ranked in the top-100 in field goal shooting percentage, the squad converts about 44.6% of their total attempts vs. AO. If TCU does have a glaring weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's poor shooting at the line. The squad makes just 63.3% of their free throw attempts, which ranks 17th-worst in Division I.

TCU has been one of the most erratic teams in college basketball this year (currently ranked 334th overall in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their future games far more difficult to predict. On the road, TCU performs noticeably worse than they do at home. The team is currently ranked fifth from the bottom in the country in the away-from-home metric we track.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
TCU performs worse against squads that shoot the ball well from the field. When facing teams that have an offensive field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 43.76%, TCU is more efficient than normal 32% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 78% of the time.
When playing teams that are typically efficient on offense, TCU usually performs worse than average. TCU is more efficient than normal 32% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive efficiency rating vs. AO greater than 100.70. In all other contests, TCU performs better than average 78% of the time.
TCU is typically worse vs. teams that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot. Against foes that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 35.27%, TCU performs above their norm 32% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 78% of the time.
