ANALYSIS: Per this website's calculations, Seattle is somewhere between an average to slightly above-average D1 ball-club. Their record this season is 23-14, and the club is ranked 95th overall (out of 362) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. Of the 11 schools in the WAC (average ranking 183.5), they're currently ranked as our #2 team in the conference.
The primary strength for Seattle is defense. The team is ranked 55th in efficiency, allowing fewer than 99 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Seattle has done a very good job to prevent opponents from draining threes this year. They rank 36th in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make just 31.5% of their attempts from afar. Seattle also does an adequate job to prevent opponents from scoring off of offensive rebounds. The squad allows AO to convert only 4.6% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 67th in the NCAA).
Seattle is also a fairly decent team on the offensive end of the court. The team ranks 131st nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 107 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Seattle does a pretty good job of protecting the ball when they have possession and not allowing quick and easy baskets off of their own turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 9.52, which ranks #46 in the country.
Seattle has been playing some of its most efficient basketball of the season recently and is presently ranked 22nd in positive momentum. On the road, Seattle performs somewhat better than their norm, as the squad is nationally ranked 26th in our away-from-home metric.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
When playing teams that convert more frequently off of offensive rebounds, Seattle usually performs worse than average. Seattle is more efficient than normal 23% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 6.19%. In all other contests, Seattle performs better than average 61% of the time.
