ANALYSIS:
When listing some of the better squads you will find in NCAA basketball this year, one can definitely make a case for Oregon. Haslametrics has them ranked 13th overall (out of 351) in All-Play Percentage, and the team holds a record of 31-7. Of the 12 schools in the Pac-12 (average ranking 69.0), they're currently ranked as the best team in the conference. With a strength-of-schedule rating of 0.711 (which ranks 24th nationally), Oregon is one of the more battle-tested teams in the college game.

Oregon is one of the very most competent offensive teams in the country. Ranked 15th in offensive efficiency, they'll rack up more than 115 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Oregon does an outstanding job finishing any scoring chances they obtain from offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team successfully converts 10.4% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked fifth nationally), and with a rating of 19.12, they're 19th in potential points scored off of the offensive glass as well. Oregon also allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 7.55, which ranks #6 in the country. Oregon lastly does a super job in their efforts to get to the free throw line. With a free throw attempt rate of 34.69 vs. AO, they are ranked seventh in the nation at getting to the charity stripe. In addition, the team is in the top-100 in free throw shooting, converting a solid 72.1% of their attempts.

Oregon plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 29th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 93 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Oregon will take a bite out of many opponents' shooting percentages, based on the fact that the team ranks in the top-50 in three of our four primary defensive field goal categories. They're most likely to shut you down inside the three-point arc, considering the team limits AO to converting just 31.9% of their mid-range jumpers (29th in the nation), 53.5% of their near-proximity chances (31st), and 40.6% of their total shots from the field (43rd). Oregon also does a pretty solid job avoiding careless fouls and minimizing opponents' opportunities from the free throw line. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 23.86 vs. AO, they are currently rated 37th in the country in that category.

Oregon has been playing some of its most efficient basketball of the season recently and is presently ranked seventh in positive momentum.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Oregon is typically better vs. teams that allow a greater number of field goal opportunities. Against foes that have a defensive field goal attempt rate vs. AO greater than 83.68, Oregon performs above their norm 79% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 26% of the time.
When facing teams that tend to capitalize off breakaway opportunities, Oregon often performs worse than normal. Oregon is more efficient than usual 9% of the time when facing teams that have a potential point rate off steals vs. AO greater than 11.86. In their other contests, Oregon performs better than the norm 62% of the time.
Oregon does better vs. clubs that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot. When playing squads that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 38.47%, Oregon performs above average 82% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 31% of the time.
