ANALYSIS:
Arizona is a top-25 caliber squad that should be able to remain competitive with most, if not all, teams in the country. Their record this season is 21-11, and the club is ranked 15th overall (out of 353) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. They are also ranked by this site as the best team (out of 12) in the Pac-12 (average ranking 64.8).

The Arizona defense will be extremely problematic for most opposing offenses. Allowing about 88 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO, the club is ranked 14th overall in defensive efficiency. Arizona will take a bite out of many opponents' shooting percentages, based on the fact that the team ranks in the top-50 in three of our four primary defensive field goal categories. They'll inflict the most harm on the outside, allowing AO to convert just 30.4% of their three-pointers (31st in the nation), 31.6% of their mid-range chances (11th), and 38.1% of their total shots from the field (ninth). Arizona also does a fantastic job to prevent opposing teams from capitalizing on chances from offensive rebounds. The squad allows AO to convert only 3.4% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 16th in the NCAA), and with a rating of 10.51, they're 32nd in potential points allowed off of the offensive glass as well.

Arizona plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 34th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 108 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Arizona allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 6.77, which ranks #3 in the country. Arizona also does a super job in their efforts to get to the free throw line. With a free throw attempt rate of 30.91 vs. AO, they are ranked 12th in the nation at getting to the charity stripe. In addition, the team is in the top-100 in free throw shooting, converting a solid 74.0% of their attempts.

On the road, Arizona performs noticeably worse than they do at home. The team is currently ranked 337th in the country in the away-from-home metric we track.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Arizona performs worse against squads that convert more frequently off of offensive rebounds. When facing teams that have an offensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 5.47%, Arizona is more efficient than normal 9% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 71% of the time.
When playing teams that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot, Arizona usually performs worse than average. Arizona is more efficient than normal 28% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 37.79%. In all other contests, Arizona performs better than average 79% of the time.
Arizona is typically better vs. teams that fail to defend efficiently inside the paint. Against foes that have a defensive near-proximity field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 57.06%, Arizona performs above their norm 82% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 33% of the time.
