ANALYSIS:
Despite having one of the better win percentages in Division I, Colgate doesn't quite make it into our list of college basketball's best 25 teams. Their record this season is 14-2, and the club is ranked 47th overall (out of 357) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. Of the 10 schools in the Patriot League (average ranking 212.8), they're currently ranked as the best team in the conference.

Colgate succeeds primarily through their offense. They are ranked 37th in offensive efficiency and score in excess of 109 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Colgate is an excellent shooting team, capable of converting from multiple locations on the court and ranking in the top-50 in three of our four primary field goal categories. They convert 39.6% of their three-pointers (sixth in the nation), 64.2% of their near-proximity attempts (44th), and 47.7% of their total shots from the field (29th) vs. AO. Colgate will also make a strong effort to get off as many field goals close to the basket as they can. The ball-club is 36th in the NCAA in ratio of near-proximity attempts to total field goal attempts. If Colgate does have a glaring weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's penchant for allowing too many easy buckets off of giveaways. The squad has a rating of 15.35 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of steals, which ranks eighth-worst in the college game.

Colgate plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 74th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 95 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Colgate does an outstanding job shutting down the opposition from behind the arc. They rank first in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make just 27.4% of their attempts from afar. Colgate is also a solid rebounding team that will deny the opposition chances to score off of offensive rebounds. They have a rating of 10.43 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (ranked 36th in the country).
