ANALYSIS: AR-Pine Bluff is one of the absolute worst teams in Division I basketball this year. Ranked fourth from the bottom overall (out of 353) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 4-26. Of the 10 schools in the SWAC (average ranking 313.5), they're currently ranked as our #9 team in the conference.
AR-Pine Bluff has a very tough time coming by points on offense. Scoring about 76 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are woefully ranked #353 in offensive efficiency. AR-Pine Bluff has had serious struggles making their free throws this year. Converting just 56.3% of their attempts, the squad is ranked #353 overall in free throw percentage. AR-Pine Bluff also happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked fourth from the bottom in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 75.46 vs. AO. AR-Pine Bluff lastly shoots dreadfully from the floor and ranks in the bottom-25 in three of our four major field goal shooting categories. They are at their worst when shooting outside the paint, converting just 26.3% of their three-pointers (fourth from the bottom in the nation), 32.3% of their mid-range chances (335th), and 37.6% of their total shots from the field (sixth from the bottom) vs. AO.
Even though the team ranks considerably higher in defensive efficiency, AR-Pine Bluff isn't a powerhouse on that end of the floor either. Allowing roughly 102 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #246 in the nation in defensive efficiency. AR-Pine Bluff fares terribly when attempting to stop opponents from converting from the inside. The team is ranked second from the bottom in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on 69.8% of their attempts from close-up. AR-Pine Bluff also fouls far too much and sends the opposition to the line way too often. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 33.73 vs. AO, the squad is ranked #348 in the country in that category. If AR-Pine Bluff does have a bright spot on defense, it would have to be their ability to limit the number of shot attempts by the opposition. The team has a defensive field goal attempt rate of 77.79 vs. AO, which ranks 34th-best in college basketball.
AR-Pine Bluff is one of the most consistent teams in NCAA basketball (currently ranked 25th in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their upcoming games far easier to predict.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
