ANALYSIS:
Despite having one of the better win percentages in Division I, New Mexico St. doesn't quite make it into our list of college basketball's best 25 teams. Ranked 41st overall (out of 353) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 30-5. Of the nine schools in the WAC (average ranking 182.8), they're currently ranked as the best team in the conference.

New Mexico St. has a reasonably potent offensive attack. Occupying the #28 slot in our offensive efficiency rankings, they will score about 113 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. New Mexico St. allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 8.40, which ranks #6 in the country. New Mexico St. also lives and dies by the three-ball and will launch from long-distance early and often. The team ranks 14th in ratio of three-point attempts to total field goal attempts. When it comes to actually making their three-point attempts, the squad shoots a so-so 34.3% from beyond the arc vs. AO. If New Mexico St. does have a weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's inability to drain mid-range jumpers. The squad makes just 32.2% of their mid-range field goal attempts vs. AO, which ranks 48th-worst in the nation.

New Mexico St. is also a fairly decent team on the defensive end of the court. The team ranks 95th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 99 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. New Mexico St. does a super job to deny opponents offensive rebounds and second chances. They have a rating of 10.22 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (ranked sixth in the country).

New Mexico St. has been playing some of its most efficient basketball of the season recently and is presently ranked 15th in positive momentum.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
