ANALYSIS: When listing some of the better squads you will find in NCAA basketball this year, one can definitely make a case for Creighton. Haslametrics has them ranked 20th overall (out of 357) in All-Play Percentage, and the team holds a record of 22-9. Of the 11 schools in the Big East (average ranking 62.5), they're currently ranked as our #3 team in the conference.
Creighton has been a force on the defensive end of the court. The team is rated 23rd in defensive efficiency and allows fewer than 91 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Creighton is a superior unit when it comes to preventing opponents from getting to the foul line. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 19.48 vs. AO, they are currently rated 19th in the country in that category. Creighton also does a super job to deny opponents offensive rebounds and second chances. They have a rating of 10.01 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (ranked 22nd in the country). Creighton is lastly one of the very best in the land in overall defensive field goal percentage. The team ranks #24 nationally in field goal percentage allowed, as AO only makes good on about 39.5% of their total attempts from the floor.
Creighton plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 28th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 111 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Creighton is an excellent shooting team, capable of converting from multiple locations on the court and ranking in the top-50 in three of our four primary field goal categories.
