ANALYSIS: As an average to slightly above-average foe, Wake Forest should probably not be discounted by opponents this year. They are ranked #110 (out of 353) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 13-18. Of the 15 schools in the ACC (average ranking 69.6), they're currently ranked as our #12 team in the conference.
Wake Forest has a reasonably potent offensive attack. Occupying the #72 slot in our offensive efficiency rankings, they will score about 105 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. In addition, the team is in the top-75 in free throw shooting, converting a solid 74.7% of their attempts. Against AO, the squad has a rating of 15.74 in potential points scored off of second chances (ranked 51st in the NCAA).
Wake Forest is also a fairly decent team on the defensive end of the court. The team ranks 154th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 99 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Wake Forest has been able to successfully prevent opponents from making shots between the three-point stripe and the low post. They're ranked 33rd in Division I in defensive mid-range field goal percentage, allowing AO to make good on only 33.2% of their attempts from that distance.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
