ANALYSIS: They're far from the worst of the worst, but Bradley should not be a terribly frightening opponent for most clubs. Their record this season is 13-20, and the club is ranked 231st overall (out of 351) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. Of the 10 schools in the MVC (average ranking 149.7), they're currently ranked as our #9 team in the conference.
Bradley will likely call on their defense to win a majority of their games. The team is ranked 135th in defensive efficiency and allows fewer than 101 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Bradley is one of the better teams when it comes to not allowing opponents to convert scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. The squad allows AO to convert only 4.9% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 26th in the NCAA). If Bradley does exhibit a weakness on the defensive end of the floor, it'd likely be the team's tendency to send opponents to the line too much by fouling. The squad has a rating of 31.28 in defensive free throw attempt rate vs. AO, which ranks 44th-worst in the country.
Unfortunately, Bradley is not even remotely close to being as good on offense as they are on defense. The team is ranked 308th in offensive efficiency, scoring about 93 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Bradley happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked last in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 75.02 vs. AO. Bradley also tends to be very careless with the ball and allows far too many breakaway opportunities off of their own turnovers. The team's rating for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals vs. AO is 13.71, which ranks 337th in D1.
Bradley has been playing better basketball in their most recent outings, as evidenced by the team's #33 ranking in positive momentum. Bradley has also been one of the most erratic teams in college basketball this year (currently ranked ninth from the bottom overall in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their future games far more difficult to predict.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
When facing teams that fail to defend efficiently inside the paint, Bradley often performs better than normal. Bradley is more efficient than usual 92% of the time when facing teams that have a defensive near-proximity field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 61.74%. In their other contests, Bradley performs better than the norm 30% of the time.
Bradley does better vs. clubs that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass. When playing squads that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 5.92%, Bradley performs above average 71% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 18% of the time.
Bradley performs better against squads that prefer the outside shot. When facing teams that have an offensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 2.03, Bradley is more efficient than normal 75% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 31% of the time.
