ANALYSIS: Stetson is not one of the better teams in Division I this year. Carrying a record of 11-19, they are currently rated #296 overall (out of 358) in All-Play Percentage this season. Of the 12 schools in the Atlantic Sun (average ranking 235.3), they're currently ranked as our #10 team in the conference.
Stetson is not one of the better offensive teams you will find. They are rated #277 in efficiency on that end of the court and only score about 95 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Stetson does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 3.2% of all second-chance opportunities (340th nationally). Stetson will also have a really tough time winning games when taking into consideration their shooting percentage near the basket. The team is ranked 337th in near-proximity field goal percentage, making only 52.4% of their attempts from up-close vs. AO.
Stetson doesn't rate much better on defense than they do on offense. Allowing roughly 107 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #274 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Stetson does a less-than-adequate job to prevent opponents from scoring off of the offensive glass. The team allows AO to convert 6.1% of all second-chance opportunities (302nd nationally).
Stetson has been one of the more erratic teams in NCAA basketball this year (presently ranked 332nd in the country in consistency), which makes forecasting the outcomes of their upcoming games tougher than most. On the road, Stetson performs somewhat better than their norm, as the squad is nationally ranked 26th in our away-from-home metric.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Stetson does worse vs. clubs that tend to allow more shots on the perimeter. When playing squads that have a defensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 2.00, Stetson performs above average 53% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 89% of the time.
