ANALYSIS:
If you're looking for a squad in the bottom quartile of all Division I basketball teams this year, Howard likely fits the bill. They are ranked #334 (out of 357) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 1-4. They are also ranked by this site as the #7 team (out of 11) in the MEAC (average ranking 304.9).

Howard will certainly not be one of the stingier defenses opponents will encounter. Allowing more than 109 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked down at #329 in defensive efficiency. Howard gives up too many chances to easily score off of offensive rebounds. The team allows AO to convert 6.5% of all second-chance opportunities (323rd nationally). Howard has also done a pretty poor job this season to prevent opponents from making shots from the inside. The team is ranked 316th in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on 63.9% of their attempts from close-up.

Howard doesn't rate much better on offense than they do on defense. Scoring roughly 92 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #294 in the nation in offensive efficiency. Howard is one of the more inferior teams in the college game when it comes to maximizing opportunities to score on offense. The team is nationally ranked 319th in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 78.14 vs. AO. Howard also does a fairly poor job cleaning the offensive glass. Against AO, the ball-club has a rating of 9.94 in potential points scored off of second chances (312th nationally).

Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
