ANALYSIS: While this site doesn't quite consider them to be in the national title hunt, Miss. State has the potential to be a formidable opponent for many in Division I. They have a record of 20-11 and are ranked 37th overall (out of 353) in the latest Haslametrics ratings. They are also ranked by this site as the #4 team (out of 14) in the SEC (average ranking 67.6).
Miss. State will create problems for opponents with their extremely prolific offense. Scoring roughly 110 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO, the squad is rated #23 in offensive efficiency. Miss. State does an outstanding job finishing any scoring chances they obtain from offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team successfully converts 8.0% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked seventh nationally), and with a rating of 17.84, they're tenth in potential points scored off of the offensive glass as well. Miss. State is also one of the best field goal shooting teams that opposing defenses will have the displeasure of facing this season.
