ANALYSIS: They're far from the worst of the worst, but Niagara should not be a terribly frightening opponent for most clubs. They are ranked #249 (out of 351) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 10-23. Of the 11 schools in the MAAC (average ranking 203.1), they're currently ranked as our #8 team in the conference.
Niagara does not provide much of a challenge on defense. They are ranked at #270 in efficiency on that end of the court and give up about 107 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Niagara struggles on occasion to deny opponents opportunities to shoot from the floor. The team is ranked 316th in the nation in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 85.59 vs. AO.
Niagara doesn't rate much better on offense than they do on defense. Scoring roughly 98 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #224 in the nation in offensive efficiency. Niagara will have a really tough time winning games when taking into consideration their shooting percentage near the basket. The team is ranked sixth from the bottom in near-proximity field goal percentage, making only 49.5% of their attempts from up-close vs. AO. Moreover, they find themselves in the bottom-50 in overall offensive field goal percentage, converting just 40.5% of their total attempts vs. AO. If Niagara does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's outstanding shooting at the charity stripe. The squad makes 76.0% of their free throw attempts, which ranks #31 in Division I.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.

When playing teams that effectively clean the offensive glass, Niagara usually performs better than average.
