ANALYSIS:
Virginia Tech has been extremely effective at times this year and should be regarded as a serious opponent. Carrying a record of 21-12, they are currently rated #36 overall (out of 351) in All-Play Percentage this season. Of the 15 schools in the ACC (average ranking 55.7), they're currently ranked as our #7 team in the conference.

Virginia Tech is undoubtedly one of the best in the business on offense. The team is rated 25th in offensive efficiency, scoring more than 113 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Virginia Tech will routinely look to penetrate, pound the ball inside, and score from as short a distance as possible. The ball-club is fifth in the NCAA in ratio of near-proximity attempts to total field goal attempts. If you do allow them to get to the inside, they are undoubtedly capable of making you pay. Presently rated in the top-75 in near-proximity shooting percentage, they make roughly 63.9% of their attempts from short-distance vs. AO. Virginia Tech is also one of the best field goal shooting teams that opposing defenses will have the displeasure of facing this season. The squad is ranked ninth in the country in field goal percentage, making approximately 50.4% of their attempts vs. AO. Their specialty shot is the mid-range jumper, as the club shoots 42.5% from those in-between locations vs. AO (rated 18th in mid-range shooting percentage). Virginia Tech lastly allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. Virginia Tech plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 74th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 97 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Virginia Tech does a pretty solid job avoiding careless fouls and minimizing opponents' opportunities from the free throw line. 	When facing teams that typically allow more than a fair share of breakaway opportunities, Virginia Tech often performs better than normal.
