ANALYSIS:
They're far from the worst of the worst, but Tulane should not be a terribly frightening opponent for most clubs. They are ranked #186 (out of 353) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 12-18. Of the 12 schools in the AAC (average ranking 94.6), they're currently ranked as our #11 team in the conference.

Though their offense is far from the worst in the game, Tulane is not terribly gifted on that end of the court either. Scoring about 98 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked at #188 in offensive efficiency. Despite their struggles on offense, Tulane doesn't really stand out as being terrible in any one particular area on that end of the floor. In fact, they aren't even in the bottom-100 in any of the offensive categories we consider for this analysis. If Tulane does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's care for the ball. The squad has a rating of 7.68 in potential points allowed off of steals vs. AO, which ranks eighth in the college game.

Tulane doesn't rate much better on defense than they do on offense. Allowing roughly 100 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #183 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Tulane fares terribly when attempting to stop opponents from converting from the inside. The team is ranked 336th in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on 65.8% of their attempts from close-up. If Tulane does have a bright spot on defense, it would have to be their success preventing opponents from getting to the free throw line. The team has a defensive free throw attempt rate of 21.56 vs. AO, which ranks 38th-best in the country.

Tulane has been playing better basketball in their most recent outings, as evidenced by the team's #39 ranking in positive momentum. Tulane has also been one of the most erratic teams in college basketball this year (currently ranked 338th overall in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their future games far more difficult to predict.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Tulane does worse vs. clubs that find ways to get to the free throw line. When playing squads that have an offensive free throw attempt rate vs. AO greater than 28.29, Tulane performs above average 33% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 76% of the time.
Tulane performs better against squads that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass. When facing teams that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 5.18%, Tulane is more efficient than normal 90% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 50% of the time.
When playing teams that effectively clean the offensive glass, Tulane usually performs worse than average. Tulane is more efficient than normal 52% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive second-chance potential point rate vs. AO greater than 14.07. In all other contests, Tulane performs better than average 89% of the time.
