ANALYSIS: Despite what their win percentage might indicate, Utah is a good team that can cause more than enough trouble for most opponents. They have a record of 12-13 and are ranked 39th overall (out of 357) in the latest Haslametrics ratings. They are also ranked by this site as the #6 team (out of 12) in the Pac-12 (average ranking 54.0).

Utah is an excellent shooting team, capable of converting from multiple locations on the court and ranking in the top-50 in three of our four primary field goal categories. They convert 37.0% of their three-pointers (43rd in the nation), 66.0% of their near-proximity attempts (20th), and 49.7% of their total shots from the field (sixth) vs. AO. Utah is also deadly accurate at the free throw line. Making 78.9% of their attempts from the stripe, they are ranked 14th nationally in free throw percentage. Utah will lastly routinely look to penetrate, pound the ball inside, and score from as short a distance as possible. The ball-club is 21st in the NCAA in ratio of near-proximity attempts to total field goal attempts. If Utah does have a weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's difficulties obtaining second-chance opportunities from offensive rebounds. The squad only has a rating of 9.99 vs. AO in potential points off of second chances, which ranks 46th-worst in college hoops.
Utah plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 71st nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 94 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Utah does tremendous work shutting down the opposition from the inside. They are ranked 22nd in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on only 53.0% of their attempts from close-up. Utah also does a pretty solid job avoiding careless fouls and minimizing opponents' opportunities from the free throw line. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 20.42 vs. AO, they are currently rated 36th in the country in that category.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
