ANALYSIS:
While not an atrocious team by any means, Missouri State is not exactly one that should appear in many top-100 rankings either. Ranked 195th overall (out of 353) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 16-16. They are also ranked by this site as the #7 team (out of 10) in the MVC (average ranking 178.4).

Missouri State will likely call on their defense to win a majority of their games. The team is ranked 174th in defensive efficiency and allows fewer than 105 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Missouri State does a really good job to prevent opponents from getting off shots from the field. The club is ranked 37th in Division I in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 79.83 vs. AO. If Missouri State does exhibit a noticeable weakness on the defensive end of the floor, it'd likely be the team's inability to stop opponents from sinking threes. AO will convert 39.8% of their three-point attempts, and the team ranks third-worst in that category because of it.

Missouri State is not quite as good on the offensive end of the floor. The team is ranked 219th in offensive efficiency, scoring about 100 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Missouri State is one of the more inferior teams in the college game when it comes to maximizing opportunities to score on offense. The team is nationally ranked 327th in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 79.12 vs. AO. Missouri State is also not one of the better teams when it comes to sinking foul shots. Converting just 67.0% of their attempts, the squad is ranked #306 overall in free throw percentage. If Missouri State does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's ability to successfully hit from mid-range locations on the court. The team makes 39.7% of their in-between field goal attempts vs. AO, which ranks 42nd in the NCAA.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
When playing teams that prefer the outside shot, Missouri State usually performs worse than average. Missouri State is more efficient than normal 30% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 1.95. In all other contests, Missouri State performs better than average 82% of the time.
Missouri State is typically worse vs. teams that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot. Against foes that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 36.09%, Missouri State performs above their norm 17% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 68% of the time.
When facing teams that aren't terribly skilled defensively, Missouri State often performs worse than normal. Missouri State is more efficient than usual 33% of the time when facing teams that have a defensive efficiency rating vs. AO greater than 101.06. In their other contests, Missouri State performs better than the norm 80% of the time.
