ANALYSIS:
Despite their unexceptional win percentage, Texas should be regarded as one of the better teams in college hoops. Carrying a record of 21-16, they are currently rated #22 overall (out of 353) in All-Play Percentage this season. Of the 10 schools in the Big 12 (average ranking 37.6), they're currently ranked as our #5 team in the conference. With a strength-of-schedule rating of 0.778 (which ranks 11th nationally), Texas is one of the more battle-tested teams in the college game.

Texas is one of the most menacing defensive teams in the country. Ranked 15th in defensive efficiency, they will allow fewer than 92 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Texas is one of the very best in the land in overall defensive field goal percentage. The team ranks #22 nationally in field goal percentage allowed, as AO only makes good on about 39.8% of their total attempts from the floor. Texas has also done a really good job this year to prevent opponents from making shots from the inside. They are ranked 42nd in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on only 54.9% of their attempts from close-up. Because of this, AO takes nowhere near as many inside shots as they typically would -- just 29.5% of AO's field goal attempts will come from short-distance.

Texas plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 41st nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 111 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Texas allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 8.72, which ranks #12 in the country. Texas is also one of the nation's most effective teams finishing close to the iron. The team is ranked 24th in the country in near-proximity field goal percentage, making approximately 65.7% of their attempts from up-close vs. AO.
