ANALYSIS: Despite having a win percentage north of .500, St. Francis (PA) is definitely a below-average ball-club in college hoops this year. Haslametrics has them ranked 265th overall (out of 353) in All-Play Percentage, and the team holds a record of 18-15. Of the 10 schools in the NEC (average ranking 284.9), they're currently ranked as our #4 team in the conference.
Defense is not exactly a strength for St. Francis (PA) this year. The team is ranked 328th in defensive efficiency and allows more than 113 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. St. Francis (PA) allows opposing teams far too many easy chances from the floor, ranking in the bottom-50 in three of the four main defensive field goal shooting categories. They are exceptionally deficient defending inside the three-point line, allowing AO to make good on 39.9% of their mid-range jumpers (319th in the nation), 64.9% of their near-proximity chances (314th), and 48.4% of their total shots from the field (339th). St. Francis (PA) is also one of the very worst teams in the game when it comes to preventing opponents from scoring off of offensive rebounds. The team allows AO to convert 8.0% of all second-chance opportunities (332nd nationally).
Even though the team ranks considerably higher in offensive efficiency, St. Francis (PA) isn't a powerhouse on that end of the floor either. Scoring roughly 102 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #186 in the nation in offensive efficiency. St. Francis (PA) struggles to drain shots consistently from most spots on the floor, ranking in the bottom-50 in three of the four primary field goal shooting categories. They are worse off shooting inside the three-point stripe, making good on just 30.0% of their mid-range jumpers (342nd in the nation), 52.6% of their near-proximity chances (334th), and 41.0% of their total shots from the field (304th) vs. AO. If St. Francis (PA) does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's knack for obtaining second-chance opportunities off of their frequent misses. The squad has a rating of 18.42 in potential points off of second chances vs. AO, which ranks 13th in all of college hoops.
On the road, St. Francis (PA) performs somewhat better than their norm, as the squad is nationally ranked 42nd in our away-from-home metric.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
