ANALYSIS: Despite what their win percentage might indicate, South Carolina is a good team that can cause more than enough trouble for most opponents. They are ranked #62 (out of 353) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 16-16. Of the 14 schools in the SEC (average ranking 55.5), they're currently ranked as our #9 team in the conference.
South Carolina has a fairly effective defensive attack. Occupying the #78 slot in our defensive efficiency ratings, they will allow about 98 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. South Carolina does a really good job to prevent opponents from getting off shots from the field. The club is ranked 42nd in Division I in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 80.13 vs. AO. South Carolina also boasts one of the better overall defensive field goal percentages in the country. The team ranks #43 nationally in field goal percentage allowed, as AO only makes good on about 40.9% of their total attempts from the floor.
South Carolina plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 98th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 107 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. South Carolina is one of the most accurate teams when shooting from long-distance. They're ranked 16th nationally in three-point field goal percentage and make about 38.7% of their attempts from there vs. AO. Though they convert many of their threes, the team doesn't really shoot a ton of them. Only 34.3% of their total attempts vs. AO are from long-distance. South Carolina also does an outstanding job finishing any scoring chances they obtain from offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team successfully converts 7.9% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 22nd nationally).
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
