ANALYSIS:
Not one of the better ball-clubs in college basketball, Southern Miss should be a fairly easy win for most capable opponents. Ranked 309th overall (out of 351) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 9-20. Of the 14 schools in Conference USA (average ranking 186.1), they're currently ranked as the worst team in the conference.

Southern Miss does not provide much of a challenge on defense. They are ranked at #314 in efficiency on that end of the court and give up about 109 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Southern Miss fares terribly when attempting to stop opponents from converting from the inside. The team is ranked 334th in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on 65.5% of their attempts from close-up. On a positive note, AO will take nowhere near as many inside shots as they typically would and, as a result, only 28.4% of AO's field goal attempts will come from short-distance.
