ANALYSIS: This website places Oregon in the top 25% of all NCAA college basketball teams this year. They have a record of 26-10 and are ranked 49th overall (out of 351) in the latest Haslametrics ratings. They are also ranked by this site as the #4 team (out of 12) in the Pac-12 (average ranking 81.1).
Oregon will create problems for opponents with their extremely prolific offense. Scoring roughly 112 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO, the squad is rated #21 in offensive efficiency. Oregon is deadly accurate at the free throw line. Making 76.7% of their attempts from the stripe, they are ranked 11th nationally in free throw percentage. Unfortunately, with a free throw attempt rate of just 25.92 vs. AO, they don't provide themselves a whole lot of opportunities at the foul line. Oregon is also an excellent shooting team, capable of converting from multiple locations on the court and ranking in the top-50 in three of our four primary field goal categories. They convert 37.8% of their three-pointers (39th in the nation), 66.7% of their near-proximity attempts (16th), and 47.8% of their total shots from the field (19th) vs. AO.
Oregon is also a fairly decent team on the defensive end of the court. The team ranks 108th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 98 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Oregon has done a very good job to prevent opponents from draining threes this year. They rank 49th in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make just 32.1% of their attempts from afar.
Oregon is one of the more consistent teams in Division I (presently ranked 43rd in consistency), so forecasting the outcomes of their future contests tends to be easier than the norm.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Oregon performs worse against squads that favor a faster tempo. When facing teams that have a pace vs. AO greater than 66.78, Oregon is more efficient than normal 27% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 70% of the time.
When playing teams that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass, Oregon usually performs worse than average. Oregon is more efficient than normal 29% of the time when facing clubs that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 6.23%. In all other contests, Oregon performs better than average 67% of the time.
Oregon is typically better vs. teams that typically allow more than a fair share of breakaway opportunities. Against foes that have a potential point rate allowed off steals vs. AO greater than 11.92, Oregon performs above their norm 75% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 39% of the time.
