ANALYSIS: Nevada is a moderately good team, capable of testing many an opponent that they'll encounter. Their record this season is 19-12, and the club is ranked 78th overall (out of 353) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. They are also ranked by this site as the #3 team (out of 11) in the MWC (average ranking 132.9).
Nevada has a reasonably potent offensive attack. Occupying the #55 slot in our offensive efficiency rankings, they will score about 106 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Nevada is one of the most accurate teams when shooting from long-distance. They're ranked seventh nationally in three-point field goal percentage and make about 38.6% of their attempts from there vs. AO. The team will try to shoot a fair amount of threes, too. Roughly 40.9% of their field goal attempts vs. AO are from long, giving the team a top-100 ranking in that category. Nevada also does a really good job converting from the free throw line. Making 76.4% of their attempts from the stripe, they are ranked 30th nationally in free throw percentage.
Nevada plays at roughly the same level defensively as they do offensively. The team ranks 100th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 96 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Nevada does an outstanding job shutting down the opposition from behind the arc. They rank third in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make just 28.7% of their attempts from afar. And to expose that weakness, this team will force AO to shoot the three more than they usually would. Of AO's total field goals, a large chunk of them (41.5%) will come from long-distance. Nevada also boasts one of the better overall defensive field goal percentages in the country. The team ranks #33 nationally in field goal percentage allowed, as AO only makes good on about 39.8% of their total attempts from the floor.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
