ANALYSIS:
Despite what their win percentage might indicate, Clemson is a good team that can cause more than enough trouble for most opponents. They are ranked #67 (out of 358) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 17-16. Of the 15 schools in the ACC (average ranking 82.1), they're currently ranked as our #8 team in the conference.

The primary strength for Clemson this year is offense. The team is ranked 49th in efficiency on that end of the floor, and they'll rack up more than 108 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Clemson allows very few breakaway opportunities for the opposition, which typically translates to fewer turnovers. The team's rating vs. AO for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals is 8.51, which ranks #16 in the country. Clemson also has a keen ability to drain field goals between the three-point line and the low post. The squad is ranked 34th nationally in mid-range field goal percentage, making about 41.6% of their attempts from those locations vs. AO.

Clemson is also a fairly decent team on the defensive end of the court. The team ranks 115th nationally in defensive efficiency, allowing about 97 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Clemson does a super job to deny opponents offensive rebounds and second chances. They have a rating of 9.76 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (ranked 13th in the country).
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Clemson does worse vs. clubs that do a nice job converting inside the paint. When playing squads that have an offensive near-proximity field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 58.95%, Clemson performs above average 33% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 75% of the time.
Clemson performs better against squads that have trouble defending the mid-range shot. When facing teams that have a defensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 34.08%, Clemson is more efficient than normal 61% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 20% of the time.
When playing teams that tend to allow more shots on the perimeter, Clemson usually performs worse than average. Clemson is more efficient than normal 35% of the time when facing clubs that have a defensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 2.03. In all other contests, Clemson performs better than average 69% of the time.
