ANALYSIS:
They're far from the worst of the worst, but Longwood should not be a terribly frightening opponent for most clubs. Their record this season is 16-18, and the club is ranked 255th overall (out of 353) in Haslametrics' most recent ratings. Of the 11 schools in the Big South (average ranking 213.3), they're currently ranked as our #9 team in the conference.

Offense is not the strong suit when it comes to Longwood. The team is ranked 290th in offensive efficiency and scores fewer than 96 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Longwood does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 3.8% of all second-chance opportunities (tenth from the bottom nationally), and with a rating of 10.37, they're 329th in potential points scored off of the offensive boards as well. Longwood also happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked 335th in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 78.59 vs. AO.

Longwood doesn't rate much better on defense than they do on offense. Allowing roughly 108 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #248 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Longwood has some difficulty staying out of foul trouble, leading to an excess of free throw attempts for the opposition. With a defensive free throw attempt rate of 29.01 vs. AO, the squad is ranked #285 in the country in that category.

Longwood has been playing better basketball in their most recent outings, as evidenced by the team's #45 ranking in positive momentum. Longwood has also been one of the more erratic teams in NCAA basketball this year (presently ranked 326th in the country in consistency), which makes forecasting the outcomes of their upcoming games tougher than most.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Longwood performs better against squads that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot. When facing teams that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 37.95%, Longwood is more efficient than normal 89% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 32% of the time.
When playing teams that allow more chances at the line, Longwood usually performs worse than average. Longwood is more efficient than normal 21% of the time when facing clubs that have a defensive free throw attempt rate vs. AO greater than 27.12. In all other contests, Longwood performs better than average 71% of the time.
Longwood is typically better vs. teams that tend to allow more shots on the perimeter. Against foes that have a defensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 2.04, Longwood performs above their norm 75% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 32% of the time.
