ANALYSIS: If you see Drexel on the schedule, you will likely get one of the average to below-average teams in college hoops. They are ranked #251 (out of 351) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 11-19. Of the 10 schools in the Colonial (average ranking 207.0), they're currently ranked as our #6 team in the conference.
Offense is not the strong suit when it comes to Drexel. The team is ranked 265th in offensive efficiency and scores fewer than 96 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Drexel does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 4.6% of all second-chance opportunities (339th nationally). Drexel also has a hard time converting field goals attempts on offense. The team is rated #305 in the country in field goal percentage, making good on a meager 39.7% of their attempts vs. AO.
Though they rate better on defense than they do on offense, Drexel still isn't one of the more capable defensive teams in college hoops. Allowing roughly 103 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #202 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Drexel can be weak on rebounding, giving the opposition too many chances to score off of the offensive glass. The club has a rating of 17.75 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (314th nationally).
Drexel has been one of the more erratic teams in NCAA basketball this year (presently ranked 322nd in the country in consistency), which makes forecasting the outcomes of their upcoming games tougher than most. When playing on the road, Drexel has played their best basketball this season. The team is currently ranked second in the country in the away-from-home metric our site tracks.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Drexel is typically worse vs. teams that prefer the outside shot. Against foes that have an offensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 1.94, Drexel performs above their norm 40% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 78% of the time.
When facing teams that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass, Drexel often performs worse than normal. Drexel is more efficient than usual 39% of the time when facing teams that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 6.75%. In their other contests, Drexel performs better than the norm 73% of the time.
