ANALYSIS:
As one of the worst teams in NCAA basketball, Coppin State should be a pushover for the average-to-good squads in Division I. Haslametrics has them ranked sixth from the bottom overall (out of 351) in All-Play Percentage, and the team holds a record of 8-24. Of the 13 schools in the MEAC (average ranking 319.3), they're currently ranked as the worst team in the conference.

Offense comes as a real struggle to Coppin State this year. The team is rated seventh from the bottom in offensive efficiency and scores fewer than 88 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Coppin State shoots dreadfully from the floor and ranks in the bottom-25 in three of our four major field goal shooting categories. They are worse off shooting inside the three-point stripe, making good on just 32.3% of their mid-range jumpers (330th in the nation), 48.2% of their near-proximity chances (second from the bottom), and 37.8% of their total shots from the field (sixth from the bottom) vs. AO. Coppin State also has had serious struggles making their free throws this year. Converting just 60.9% of their attempts, the squad is ranked #349 overall in free throw percentage. Coppin State lastly does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 4.3% of all second-chance opportunities (338th nationally).

Sadly, Coppin State is almost as horrific on the defensive end of the floor as they are on the offensive end of it. Allowing roughly 115 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #343 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Coppin State allows the opposition far too many easy shots from the floor and ranks in the bottom-25 in three of our four major defensive field goal shooting categories. They are exceptionally deficient defending inside the three-point line, allowing AO to make good on 42.4% of their mid-range jumpers (sixth from the bottom in the nation), 67.5% of their near-proximity chances (333rd), and 49.7% of their total shots from the field (seventh from the bottom). Coppin State also gives up far too many offensive rebounds and second chances to their opponents. The club has a rating of 18.11 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (ninth from the bottom nationally), and they let AO convert a healthy 9.2% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 338th) as well.

Coppin State has been playing much better basketball as of late and is presently ranked 19th in positive momentum because of it.

CURIOUS TRENDS:

	Coppin State performs worse against squads that convert more frequently off of offensive rebounds.
