ANALYSIS: Binghamton is not one of the better teams in Division I this year. Carrying a record of 10-23, they are currently rated #338 overall (out of 353) in All-Play Percentage this season. Of the nine schools in the America East (average ranking 250.6), they're currently ranked as our #8 team in the conference.
Binghamton is not one of the better offensive teams you will find. They are rated #328 in efficiency on that end of the court and only score about 92 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Binghamton does an extremely poor job drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line. With a free throw attempt rate of just 19.08 vs. AO, they are seventh from the bottom in the overall rankings for that category. Binghamton also has had serious struggles making their free throws this year. Converting just 63.8% of their attempts, the squad is ranked #345 overall in free throw percentage. Binghamton lastly does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 4.1% of all second-chance opportunities (336th nationally), and with a rating of 10.93, they're 315th in potential points scored off of the offensive boards as well.
Binghamton doesn't rate much better on defense than they do on offense. Allowing roughly 111 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #310 in the nation in defensive efficiency. Binghamton allows the opposition to get off far too many shots from the floor. The team is ranked sixth from the bottom in the nation in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 89.03 vs. AO. Binghamton also does an extremely poor job to deny the opposition behind the arc. They rank seventh from the bottom nationally in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make 39.5% of their attempts from afar. Binghamton lastly gives up far too many offensive rebounds and second chances to their opponents. The club has a rating of 17.27 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (340th nationally), and they let AO convert a healthy 8.3% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 336th) as well.
Binghamton has been one of the more erratic teams in NCAA basketball this year (presently ranked 322nd in the country in consistency), which makes forecasting the outcomes of their upcoming games tougher than most. On the road, Binghamton performs somewhat better than their norm, as the squad is nationally ranked 34th in our away-from-home metric.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Binghamton performs better against squads that do a nice job converting inside the paint. When facing teams that have an offensive near-proximity field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 60.08%, Binghamton is more efficient than normal 89% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 36% of the time.
When playing teams that have trouble defending the mid-range shot, Binghamton usually performs better than average. Binghamton is more efficient than normal 82% of the time when facing clubs that have a defensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 37.91%. In all other contests, Binghamton performs better than average 35% of the time.
Binghamton is typically worse vs. teams that prefer the outside shot. Against foes that have an offensive shooting proximity score vs. AO greater than 2.04, Binghamton performs above their norm 33% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 77% of the time.
