ANALYSIS:
If you see Cornell on the schedule, you will likely get one of the average to below-average teams in college hoops. Haslametrics has them ranked 210th overall (out of 353) in All-Play Percentage, and the team holds a record of 15-16. They are also ranked by this site as the #7 team (out of eight) in the Ivy League (average ranking 158.3).

Cornell will likely call on their defense to win a majority of their games. The team is ranked 167th in defensive efficiency and allows fewer than 104 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Cornell owns a pretty good track record against teams that shoot the three. They rank 83rd in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage, allowing AO to make just 33.2% of their attempts from afar. For this reason, AO takes nowhere near as many threes as they typically would -- just 32.5% of AO's field goal attempts will be from downtown. If Cornell does exhibit a noticeable weakness on the defensive end of the floor, it'd likely be the team's unwillingness to take risks in order to score fast points off of the opposition's turnovers. The squad only has a rating of 7.78 in potential points scored off of steals vs. AO, which ranks 14th-worst in the college game.

Cornell doesn't perform as well offensively as they do defensively. The team is ranked 237th in offensive efficiency, scoring about 99 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Cornell happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked 339th in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 78.28 vs. AO. Cornell also poses no threat whatsoever to grab rebounds off their own misses. Against AO, the ball-club has a rating of 10.03 in potential points scored off of second chances (336th nationally).

Cornell has been one of the most erratic teams in college basketball this year (currently ranked eighth from the bottom overall in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their future games far more difficult to predict.
SORTABLE SCHEDULE / RESULTS:
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location.
Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Cornell is typically better vs. teams that typically allow more than a fair share of breakaway opportunities. Against foes that have a potential point rate allowed off steals vs. AO greater than 13.54, Cornell performs above their norm 80% of the time. Against the remaining opposition, the team performs above average 26% of the time.
When facing teams that convert well from the charity stripe, Cornell often performs worse than normal. Cornell is more efficient than usual 18% of the time when facing teams that have an adjusted free throw percentage vs. AO greater than 72.50%. In their other contests, Cornell performs better than the norm 61% of the time.
Cornell does worse vs. clubs that have trouble defending the mid-range shot. When playing squads that have a defensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 36.51%, Cornell performs above average 18% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 61% of the time.
