ANALYSIS: This website places Bradley in the top 25% of all NCAA college basketball teams this year. They are ranked #67 (out of 362) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 23-12. They are also ranked by this site as the #3 team (out of 12) in the MVC (average ranking 137.6).
Bradley has a fairly effective defensive attack. Occupying the #59 slot in our defensive efficiency ratings, they will allow about 99 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. Bradley will take a bite out of many opponents' shooting percentages, based on the fact that the team ranks in the top-50 in three of our four primary defensive field goal categories. They're most likely to shut you down inside the three-point arc, considering the team limits AO to converting just 36.0% of their mid-range jumpers (50th in the nation), 53.4% of their near-proximity chances (42nd), and 40.8% of their total shots from the field (40th).
Bradley plays at about the same level on offense as they do on defense. The team ranks 76th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 112 points every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO. Bradley is an outstanding shooting team, capable of converting from a variety of locations on the floor and ranking in the top-50 in each of our four most noteworthy field goal categories. Though they're most successful shooting the mid-range jumper (46.3% vs. AO, fifth in the country), the team also makes 37.1% of their three-pointers (44th), 63.3% of their near-proximity chances (42nd), and 47.3% of their total shots from the field (43rd) vs. AO. Bradley will also likely shoot a fair share of three-pointers each contest. The team ranks 57th in ratio of three-point attempts to total field goal attempts. If Bradley does have a weakness offensively, it would have to be the team's difficulties obtaining second-chance opportunities from offensive rebounds. The squad only has a rating of 10.45 vs. AO in potential points off of second chances, which ranks 43rd-worst in college hoops.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
Bradley does worse vs. clubs that have trouble defending the mid-range shot. When playing squads that have a defensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 38.31%, Bradley performs above average 14% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 60% of the time.
Bradley performs better against squads that typically allow more than a fair share of breakaway opportunities. When facing teams that have a potential point rate allowed off steals vs. AO greater than 10.34, Bradley is more efficient than normal 60% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 14% of the time.
When playing teams that are more proficient at draining the mid-range shot, Bradley usually performs worse than average. Bradley is more efficient than normal 19% of the time when facing clubs that have an offensive mid-range field goal percentage vs. AO greater than 40.82%. In all other contests, Bradley performs better than average 61% of the time.
