ANALYSIS: They're far from the worst of the worst, but G. Washington should not be a terribly frightening opponent for most clubs. Carrying a record of 5-12, they are currently rated #260 overall (out of 357) in All-Play Percentage this season. Of the 14 schools in the A-10 (average ranking 128.8), they're currently ranked as our #13 team in the conference.
Defense is not exactly a strength for G. Washington this year. The team is ranked 295th in defensive efficiency and allows more than 105 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO. G. Washington allows the opposition to get off far too many shots from the floor. The team is ranked 344th in the nation in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 87.20 vs. AO.
Though they rate better on offense than they do on defense, G. Washington still isn't one of the more capable offensive teams in college hoops. Scoring roughly 98 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #201 in the nation in offensive efficiency. G. Washington happens to be one of the very worst in the game when it comes to maximizing the number of shot attempts they get off from the floor. The team is nationally ranked 346th in offensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of only 76.97 vs. AO. G. Washington also has some difficulty protecting the ball efficiently when in possession, which leads to some quick and easy baskets for the opposition. The team's rating for potential breakaway points allowed off of steals vs. AO is 13.77, which ranks 320th in D1. If G. Washington does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's ability to get to the free throw line. The squad has a free throw attempt rate of 28.24 vs. AO, which ranks 47th in the country.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
