ANALYSIS: If you see G. Washington on the schedule, you will likely get one of the average to below-average teams in college hoops. Ranked 229th overall (out of 353) in our most recent ratings, they presently have a record of 12-20. They are also ranked by this site as the #12 team (out of 14) in the A-10 (average ranking 135.3).
Though their defense is far from abysmal, G. Washington is not really proficient on that end of the court either. Allowing about 102 points for every 100 possessions vs. AO, they are ranked #230 in defensive efficiency. G. Washington will allow opponents more chances to shoot than the norm. The team is ranked 266th in the nation in defensive field goal attempt rate with a rating of 84.10 vs. AO.
G. Washington doesn't rate much better on offense than they do on defense. Scoring roughly 96 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #223 in the nation in offensive efficiency. G. Washington does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 3.4% of all second-chance opportunities (331st nationally), and with a rating of 9.56, they're 329th in potential points scored off of the offensive boards as well. G. Washington is also downright rotten when shooting the mid-range jumper. The team is ranked 330th in field goal percentage from that distance, making only 32.8% of their mid-range attempts vs. AO.
G. Washington has been playing some of their worst basketball of the season as of late, and they're presently ranked tenth from the bottom in positive momentum because of it. G. Washington is also one of the more consistent teams in Division I (presently ranked 44th in consistency), so forecasting the outcomes of their future contests tends to be easier than the norm.
Projections are based on present-day ratings. Stars indicate games played at a neutral location. Game efficiencies only account for data before a contest has gone analytically final and are adjusted to extract home-court advantage.
CURIOUS TRENDS:
G. Washington does better vs. clubs that allow a higher number of conversions off of the offensive glass. When playing squads that have a defensive second-chance conversion percentage vs. AO greater than 4.29%, G. Washington performs above average 68% of the time. Against all other opponents, the team performs better than the norm 20% of the time.

Washington is more efficient than normal 68% of the time. In their other contests, the team is more efficient 20% of the time.
When playing teams that prefer the outside shot, G. Washington usually performs better than average. G.
