ANALYSIS:
Hartford is not one of the better teams in Division I this year. They are ranked #323 (out of 351) in the most recent Haslametrics ratings and have a record of 10-23. They are also ranked by this site as the #8 team (out of nine) in the America East (average ranking 243.9).

Hartford has a very sieve-like defense that gives up points way too easily. The team is ranked 335th in efficiency on that end of the court and gives up more than 112 points every 100 possessions vs. AO. Hartford gives up far too many offensive rebounds and second chances to their opponents. The club has a rating of 19.72 vs. AO in potential points allowed off of second chances (fourth from the bottom nationally), and they let AO convert a healthy 9.2% of all second-chance opportunities (ranked 328th) as well. Hartford also fares terribly when attempting to stop opponents from converting from the inside. The team is ranked 339th in the country in defensive near-proximity percentage, allowing AO to make good on 66.6% of their attempts from close-up. And with such little resistance, AO will merrily cut, slash, and drive right to the hoop as often as possible. Of AO's total field goals, a big portion of them (39.7%) will be from short-distance. Hartford is lastly one of the very worst teams in the country in terms of overall defensive field goal percentage. The ball-club ranks #332 nationally in field goal percentage allowed, as AO will convert approximately 48.2% of their total attempts from the floor.

Though they rate better on offense than they do on defense, Hartford still isn't one of the more capable offensive teams in college hoops. Scoring roughly 96 points for every 100 trips upcourt vs. AO, they are ranked #274 in the nation in offensive efficiency. Hartford does a terrible job to take advantage of scoring chances off of offensive rebounds. Against AO, the team converts only 3.2% of all second-chance opportunities (second from the bottom nationally), and with a rating of 8.68, they're fourth from the bottom in potential points scored off of the offensive boards as well. Hartford will also have a really tough time winning games when taking into consideration their shooting percentage near the basket. The team is ranked 333rd in near-proximity field goal percentage, making only 51.7% of their attempts from up-close vs. AO. Moreover, they find themselves in the bottom-50 in overall offensive field goal percentage, converting just 39.7% of their total attempts vs. AO. If Hartford does have a strength offensively, it would have to be the team's outstanding shooting at the charity stripe. The squad makes 75.1% of their free throw attempts, which ranks #31 in Division I.

Hartford has been playing much better basketball as of late and is presently ranked fourth in positive momentum because of it. When playing on the road, Hartford has played their best basketball this season. The team is currently ranked first in the country in the away-from-home metric our site tracks.
